Orion Series Overview
The Orion Series licensed-band microwave system provides network operators with the very latest in wireless technology, outstanding throughput, industry leading performance, robust features, and superior reliability. Widely used throughout the world in carrier, enterprise, service provider, and government networks, the Orion series is designed for a host of mission critical applications. The Orion series is available in three form factors (all-outdoor, split-mount, and all-indoor) and the system is available for all standard world-wide licensed frequency bands from 4.5 to 42 GHz.
The Orion offers exceptionally high transmit power, modulation levels up to 1024QAM, physical layer link aggregation, multi-layer header compression, and XPIC enabling full gigabit performance. Other outstanding features include advanced hitless adaptive coding and modulation, comprehensive management and monitoring capability, and industry leading system gain. All models include traffic interfaces for both fiber and copper. Additional carrier features include SyncE and 1588 v2 precision time protocol.
The three models in the family include the Apex Orion (all-outdoor), Giga Orion (split-mount), and Giga LongHaul (all-indoor). The Orion is designed for reliability and fully supports mission critical topologies such as 1+1 HSB, 2+0, and in the case of the Giga LongHaul, space diversity.
